Three nights for the price of two...
Winter may not seem an obvious choice as a time to visit Point
Reyes, but for those in the know it can be stunning. There is a
greater chance of the weather being fog free out at the coast than
during the summer.
This makes whale watching even more enjoyable. From November
through April the whales make their journey from Canada to Mexico
and back again, one that takes them close to the peninsula at the
Lighthouse. From this vantage point it is easy to spot them and
later in the year, to hike through wildflowers. Nothing evokes the
start of spring like a meadow of wildflowers and at the Point Reyes
National Seashore numerous trails lead through acres of diverse and
rare spring flowers.
Late in the year the area is abundant with migrating birds. It
is known the world over by ornothologists or 'twitchers' as they are
called in Britain.

For those wanting to get away at this time An English Oak offers three nights for the price of two. There are also
low season rates making the stay affordable as well as
enjoyable.
Relaxing evenings can be spent curled up with a book, watching
a video or having a massage. For those wanting a little more
adventure a good old fashioned murder mystery can be arranged (see
seperate page for details).
The Visitor Center on Bear Valley Road offers many classes
during this season. www.nps.gov
Other special events include the Inverness Garden Club Mother's
Day tour. Call Sharyn for details about this fun event.
The artists in the community open their studios on several
weekends throughout the year including Thanksgiving.
An English Oak's neighbour the Olema Inn not only
offers fine dining, on special days such as Christmas, New Year and
Valentines Day it puts on an evening to remember.
Come enjoy Point Reyes when the flora and fauna outnumber those
that visit.
